Trouble removing broken mast antenna

Trouble removing broken mast antenna
I have a 2001 S40. I'm trying to replace a broken mast antenna and I'm having great difficulty removing the broken bottom piece from the receiver. Here's a video of the problem:

Is it possible to pull it out without removing the mech assembly underneath? Several user group threads imply that it is possible but it feels like there's a mechanical stop to the remaining piece preventing it from coming out of the adapter sleeve. Can anyone help with some advice?
Thanks

With a VIN, I could look it up in VIDA. I've got a "sample" MY2000 S40. There is also a procedure for actually removing the power antenna from inside the trunk.
It says:
Power antenna rod, replacement
Removal
Removing antenna rod
Clean the area around the antenna head.
Note! If the antenna rod cannot be completely pulled out, pull it out using force.
Pull out the antenna rod with the radio switched on (leave the radio switched on).
Remove:
Installation
Installing the antenna rod
Install the antenna rod. Insert the end of the nylon strip (4) into the mechanism.
Press the toothed nylon strip (4) in until the splines grip the motor.
Turn off radio. The antenna rod (3) is pulled down into the mechanism again.
Caution! Insert the antenna rod carefully down into the tube.
If the antenna rod is not pulled completely into the mechanism, push it down carefully.

Bullseye!
No VIN lookup necessary. That diagram did the trick. The key, for anyone having this problem, is in removing the adapter sleeve BEFORE trying to lift out the broken remainder of the antenna. The adapter sleeve, which wraps around the antenna mast lifts out easily if you let some WD40 soak in for a day or so. The important thing is not to wrestle the broken antenna part to such a degree that it deforms itself, making it difficult to slip off the adapter sleeve which has to come up around the broken remainder of the antenna. you might need to use pliers to crush inward any jagged pieces around the break so that it can pass through the sleeve as it comes out.
Thanks for your help!!

De nada.
I do recommend setting up VIDA for your own reference:

It's the software that the dealer uses with a DiCE tool to diagnose your Volvo troubles. People like us can get a hacked copy that will not update or do certain things like program new keys. It's still very useful for diagrams or parts numbers. You can buy a DiCE tool from China direct: 2014 Promotion volvo scanner volvo dice vida Volvo Dice Pro!Support Firmware Update and Selftest! Chip Import From US-in Code Readers & Scan Tools from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com
You need 32bit Windows XP Pro or Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate. There is a way to run the program in a Virtual Machine but that is way over my abilities.

Well, VMware has a free virtual machine "player" that is pretty much "download, click, play." You then download the machine image as given before and start the image through the VMware player. If you are usingn teh DiCE scanner interface, there is a little more jiggling to do, but for merely looking at VIDA, it requires about three clicks and about 20 minutes of install time.
