Apples to apples, and other than horse power, would you get a turbo vs non-turbo? Im pretty happy with my non turbo s40. Im going to look at an S40 with one soon but have always been a bit jaded against them. To me just one more thing to break/fix. From what I can tell I have a lil bit room under the hood, for what thats worth. Im curious about the reliability of the unit or what to look for pertaining to the turbo. Ive had friends with older Volvos and Ive seen a couple "let go" as 1 friend said. Possibly why Ive never considered Volvo until I bought mine. (from same friend, he rebuilt the engine in mine, good friend great mechanic, 30 years) Am I paranoid??? After a lifetime of asian cars Ive been fortunate with mainly nissans. Im a service tech and can put 2-3k a month on a car. I need a third car just in case and wonder if it can hold up to some intense miles, mostly highway. Actually its the same question for the one I have. Currently I have a company van but that may change.....Ive never driven a turbo so thought Id ask. Thanx

 

Turbo failure on a Volvo is not common. The ones I've seen have been due to lack of maintenance. If you keep up on your oil changes, you'll be fine.
