HA HA HA HA!!! That is very fun!!

Sorry, I could not help myself. Anyway, to be serious, water must have gotten into the controller somehow and is shorting it out. The good news is that once it completely dries out, it should stop.

I sure hope so. I live in WI and we haven't been above freezing for a long time. I'm getting really sick of shutting my trunk every time I turn my car off. Grr.... Not sure what else to look for.

yes, definitely fun. volvo should put this feature on all their cars!

i agree with the previous post...it should be fine once it has a chance to dry out.

I have the exact same problem, been going on for 2 months, I just work around it since I'm used to it but I guess I should deal with it.

Only occurs when all the doors are unlocked before turning off the car. If the doors are locked and I shut the car off, trunk stays locked....but also won't open with either the key or pad until the car is on again. So strange.

trunk button shorted to plate lights via trunk button. notice if you turn your parking lights on and off again the trunk will open.

Can't believe this thread was dug up again. That didn't have an effect for me. Ironically I ended up having another small issue and they replaced the System Relay. After that never had the trunk problem again. 2 birds, 1 stone I suppose.

Stop hitting the trunk open button on the fob with your thumb when you turn of the ignition. LOL.
Good luck hopefully just a relay.
