V O L V O trunk emblem replacement question
I ordered the newer style V O L V O trunk letters to replace my smaller ones. I removed the old and started compounding and polishing the paint that was under it to get rid of the "ghosting" effect of the old letters. So far, it can still be seen. Its light, but still.
Obviously, this wouldn't normally matter if you're just replacing what you have with newer. But since the new placement is going to be spaced much wider than what I had its noticeable. Any suggestions to what can be done here, short of wet sanding?
Thanks.

Even wet sanding won't help. The issue is sun fade despite the top clear coat, and you don't want to sand through the clear coat. Either put back what you had, or put the new on and live with it. Short of a repaint you won't get rid of it. If it's light enough then most likely your eye won't be drawn to it once the new letters are in place. You will see it because you know it's there, but most people probably won't notice.
It is pretty light. And, you're right: I'm sure most people would never notice, as I don't even see it unless I'm looking for it -- and that's with no letters around it. I'll go ahead and install my letters. Thanks for the input. Its appreciated.
