very cold
I have a 2005 S40. On passenger side no heat from ac-heater blower and no heat from the heated seat. I went for service this past monday and the diagnosis was there is a bad heater control unit under the passenger side seat (part - 31268907-8 CONTROL UNIT). Service replaced the part retested and found that the control unit under the driver side is also bad but they did not have the part in stock. Apparently if this part does not work it sends mixed signals to the cars computer and shuts down the blower unit from providing heat. Volvo gets 5 stars for "Safety" ... LOL. The part goes for $70, 1 hour of labor to diagnose the problem and 30 minutes to install one of the control units. After the 2nd control unit is installed next Monday ... caching $400.00. Could not find the part at a junk yard and my local mechanic won't service the heating system.

The 2nd control unit was installed and the problem was not resolved. There is cold air coming from the passenger side Heating and Airconditioning blowers and the passenger side heated seat is not working. The mechanic pulled 2 easier accessed motors of the 5 motors that are in the blower and they were fine. Volvo service wants 2 hours to renove the dashboard to get access to the other 3 motors on the blower.
Because the passenger heated seat does not work also I think the problem is in the center console. This is called the CCM (Climate Control Module). I believe that the circuit board where the right temperature **** and the seat heater switch are fixed to the circuit board has a fault. Either a crack or a bad diode (component).

Hey guys! didnt want to start a brand new thread. haha
I have a 01 s60 2.4T and my heater just stopped working while driving. It doesnt blow hot or cold air at all. However, my heated seats still work. Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

I too have a problem with only one side of the system in my 2002 V70, heat goes cold on the drivers side, or AC goes warm when used. I tried a used control panel from a salvage yard, but only the fan would then work, is the control panel coded to the car?
On the 2004.5 and up S40/V50, the servos that control the air flow can get out of sync and cause problems like you described (heat on one side but cold on the other). There is a computer procedure that re-synchronizes them. Unfortunately, it is a Volvo Service thing.

No heat on passenger side heater/blower and heated electric seat.
I brought my S-40 to an independent garage in my hometown. He charged me 1 hour of time to "test vehicle with scanner and found CAN bus line down for climate control system. Tech disconnected blend doors until the CAN bus line came back on. Tech diagnosed the recirculation door motor to be faulty. Replaced recirculation motor, and recalibrated the vehicle climte control doors. The completed circuit to the bus allowed the heated passenger seat to work again.
$247 labor to analyze and take dash apart remove/replace recirculation motor, $150 for recirculation motor and $57 foir shop and taxes.
