My 2010A will not. I've read rumors that Volvo was going to make VIDA work with newer versions but have yet to read anywhere of a successful install. I did read one thread where the poster wrote he got it to work with a 32bit version of 7 Pro.

According to an eBay seller: "VIDA is ONLY compatible with Windows XP Pro."

I don't known how these eBay versions work without a subscription, but I do know Volvo is aware of the hacked versions and is working to change it so the eBay ones no longer work. Just FYI.

They work because of a hacked patch code. They will not update like the authorized versions though. Whatever version you buy is all you get. Realize even Microsoft cannot stop hacked versions of Windows. I wouldn't bet on Volvo stopping anything. And since Volvo is owned by a Chinese company now I can almost guarantee nothing will ever be done. Hell China is the SOURCE of the hacked code! I can get you any piece of software sold in the world, right now, cheap, fully working, and completely hacked within a 15 minute walk of my apartment.

Do you have a hacked version? Do you need to enter a logon name and password? Or can you go right to the profile screen after loading it?

I believe my version is a real copy that has been "patched" to allow anyone to log into the software. You enter a generic Admin logon and password.

I'm not using the software to make money, only trying to fix my car. I still end up buying many parts from my local dealer.

I wonder what is actually happening when you enter the logon and password. The current version now takes quite a bit longer to logon for us because of some added security measures (I don't know exactly what that is). I'm also curious is eventually, those generic logons and passwords will fail to work (if indeed it is trying to get onto the Volvo servers). Time will tell I suppose.

Did yours come with a DiCE?

Although I don't know for certain if the program attempts to access Volvo servers, I can tell you that mine does not update. The E-update feature does not work. Sometimes when I buy a dealer part using part numbers from VIDA, the dealer tells me the part number has changed.

I bought and installed 2010A from an eBay seller. Then when I bought the Dice unit it came with 2011A. Rumor has it the Chinese Dice is a copy of the real European unit. I do not know for sure. The Chinese are famous for copying western tech. It's going to be interesting to see how the new Chinese owners of Volvo handle others copying their stuff.
