Volvo 2000 S40 won't start
I drove my car just fine to work today, but I went to start it about 4 hours afterward and it wouldn't start. The engine sounds like it turns over, but the engine won't stay on. I can give it some gas right when I turn the engine over and and RPM meter moves up until I stop then the engine dies again. I'm going to try to change the spark plugs, but anyone have any other suggestions? After the spark plugs I'm going to change the fuel filter, then if that doesn't work I'm towing it to a Volvo dealership.
Another odd thing I noticed is the fun in the engine runs for about 10 minutes after I take the key out (without the engine ever really turning on).

if you had the slightest idea how the electronical fuel managment system worked you would never ever ever ever ever ever hit the throttle to feed gas before the engine starts to run. you could eventually flood the engine with gas and than it will never start again. the fact is, bad/old plugs or even a clogged fuel filter will not affect the engines start up process but it will affect its performance. try looking at the starter motor itself. it could be a worn out alternator. clean out the throttle body. this should be your biggest concern. whatever the case. honestly, tow your car to a stealership (dealer) and have them take a long hot bath in your wallet. lol. there goes your baggie for the next 3 weeks. i have a theory, if you buy an import, you better be mechanically inclined. good luck.
