Hi I’m not sure if anyone could help or answer this but off of a cold start my car is having issues in 1st gear. In automatic it’ll rev very high and then shift after that happens I can drive for hours with no issue.i tried in slap shift and it’ll just sit in 1st and will not go to 2nd. not sure what to buy or do at this point to fix this let me know if you had this issue and what you did.

 

That will probably be a valve body problem. Not really an easy DIY - unless you are talented.

You should scan the car first to see if there are any TCM codes (and in any other control units also)

 

Got it scanned today nothing is popping up which is odd

I’m a rookie did not know you could scan your entire car.I just did the OBD scan at autozone and it only brought up ABS. They said it could be my transmission control solenoid but not sure to trust that so I came here to see if anyone else had this happen.

 

A compatible scanner will be able to read all of the control units listed in the diagram below if you car has them. (for instance - you may not have a built in GPS or a SUB module - for the subwoofer)

 

Yes do the entire scan first if still no faults I would change the oil in the box as well as the filter , these cars are getting old now , you have not mentioned how many Km/Miles it has done and if ever the oil /filter was changed
I used to have the same car a 2006 model and after around 250k the gearbox was getting stuck in gears and was changing harshly I changed the oil and was 100%
