Post Volvvo S40 2008 2.4

Did a manual test for DTS on my vehicle on it's computer and got the following reading
1) DTCS in vehicle
2) ECM DTS SET

My vehilce was recently serviced by Volvo. What does these codes mean and more importantly should I go back and have the vehicle checked again by the agent?

Simply means there is at least one fault code in the ECM. You cannot read them without a scanner.

Had the car scanned and the technician told he has reset the computer o factory settings. Error cleared. Now I have a new question... When resetting the computer to the original factory setting what happens to the updates that were loaded after it left the factory?

He probably just erased the trouble code. A Volvo tech would not reflash the computer unless Volvo has instructed dealers to do this. And then you would get the latest update. You are talking about a Volvo dealer? And a Volvo trained tech? (I know my 2001 got a reflash when I bought the car but it was an update.)

They cleared the code. There may have been an update to take care of it, like for the leak detection pump.

The service light just needs to be reset.

Thee is probably a workaround available out ther for resetting the service light yourself. At least there was one avail for both my 2003 v40 and my 2010 v70. A quick Google should do the trick.
