My air conditioner has been working well for awhile now could this water be from it?

Do you have a sunroof? And did you have the car rustproofed or coated in anyway?

Yes I have a sunroof . Noticed today the water iscoming in the heater duct under driver seat on floor. There's a pitched pulley noise on belts under hood to that hesitates when you punch the throttle also . On top of all that check engine lights is on too .

all volvo's with a sun roof leek in to the back of the car, I took mine to get sorted the dealer took £180 then i found this linkso i sorted the N/S myself in 25 minutes,

The slight differance is, the link is of a XC90 with a big dashboard so its easy to work in and you can get that L shaped gromet in and out,
but the L shaped rubber gromet thing on a S40 is hard to get out so i didnt bother in case it wouldnt go back in ,,, that being the case i just clear it thru with a bit of wire (flexable wire like ya get on a table lamp) easy fix and you dont even need any tools

oh once you clear the gromet and rejoin the tube pour some water down the hole up at the sun roof if the water runs out onto the ground behind the wheel arch its fixed,
then ya can put it all back together again
