I use blitz one grand carnuba wax. It is a good protectant and a good base. Then if you want a more glossy shine you can add a gloss or show wax--for that showroom shine.

I use exclusively Zymol. It holds up in the heat and the salty northern winters! It is a bit expensive but it sounds like you want to use the best..........................

What are your thoughts on synthetic polymers vs. carnuba wax, I leave in the tropics and I am concern on the break down of carnuba with the heat. Thanks.

I judge at a major international auto show. The autos which routinely place in the top tiers are waxed with Zymol. Today it is in the 90's where I reside and my daily driver (Volvo) which has been prepared with Zymol looks as good as when I applied it last month. I park this auto in the drive.............I don't garage it and so it stands up to the weather.

Do you use the Zymol paste or liquid? I used the paste once when I had my Porsche because I neighbor came over and told me to try it. I think he had to keep it in the refrigerator if I remember correctly. It was quite a bit of work to remove the wax, but it looked great when finished.

Jim, I use the liquid..................the paste is the best but it is as you mentioned, a bear to work with!! The liquid is less costly but does an excellent job! Zymol also makes a product that is sprayed on after a few auto washes which rejuvenates the wax. I use it but have mixed feelings over whether it is easier to use than simply wiping on some liquid wax! The sheen that Zymol leaves is fantastic and out does the synthetic waxes...........................but true to their advertisments............the synthetic lasts longer. So if you simply want a coat of wax on the auto, go with the less costly synthetic but if you have an auto...............which I know you do.... that you want to look outstanding and you have 'pride' in it...........then go with the liquid Zymol.

Reg, how do you feel about mixing carnuba and a synthetic polimer. Such as, a coat of synthetic polimer and then a coat of carnuba. By the way, do you know where I can buy liquid zymol over the internet?

I see that you reside in Puerto Rico........................I purchase my Zymol at a large variety store.............very similar to WalMart. In other words, try your local auto parts store and I'll bet you will find it. As far as 'mixing' a synthetic with carnuba......I do not see why not other than.................what are you gaining??? To put synthetic on top of Zymol................then you lost the shine. Conversely what purpose would the opposite serve? It sounds to me that you want protection with a fine shine and you do not mind waxing more often. If that is true, then I would use Zymol. The synthetic lasts longer but the trade off is the shine and the swirl marks.

Locally, I was able to find the Zymol cleaner wax, liquid, for about $15 USD. In the internet, at zymol.com, I was able to purchase the zymol volvo creame wax. It did not come in liquid. It is rather pricey, but certainly the results are worth it. I found that trick when applying it, is to work on sections and not allowing the wax to dry completely. About 5 minutes after applying the creme, you have to buff it out.
