What's the spring on the caliper for? :)

Default What's the spring on the caliper for? :)

Hello guys,

I've found a s40 brake fix tutorial here, read it. It was a great write-up. Thank you!
I'm with a small question thereafter.

On the calipers, there are springs on each. The one seen right after you take wheels off, on the wheel side.
The write-up says I can pry it off, but have to put it back. What's the spring for? When I put it in, do I have to form it as it was at the first place?

Many Thanks (;
Jae

I'm assuming you're talking about these clips. They must go back.

Video's linked with timestamps to selected spots but if you play from the embedded video it will start at the beginning. Click the link at the top of the embed to go to the timestamp.

5m 52s first video
4m 16s second video
