Default Will a Clutch disk from a 2007 Ford Focus work on a 2007 S40 M56 Transmission??

Hi,

Hear me out.

I'm converting a V70 to electric.
To that end, I found and purchased an M56 transmission from a 2007 S40.

I need to create a coupler that will join the 23 spline shaft coming out of the transmission to a tapered shaft coming out of my Yale Forklift motor.
The cheapest way to get an adaptor for the transmission side is to get a clutch disk with the mount for the 23 tooth splined input shaft, and weld that to 1/2 of a Lovejoy-style coupler.

SO

Cost is a factor. I don't care about the quality of the clutch material , since that part is getting discarded anyway. I'm going to direct-drive the transaxle from the motor, only a coupler is needed. So, I just want to get ahold of a compatible clutch disk, at lowest possible cost.

I read on some forums that the clutch disks between the S40 and Ford Focus were interchangeable. I can source a Ford Focus clutch disk for 48 bucks. A Volvo disk would be a couple hundred and include a pressure plate assembly I don't need ot want.

I just need to know if a Focus disk would slip on the M56 transmission. Does anyone here know?

Thanks!

I'd look up the part number for the discs on the (excellent) rockauto.com website interface. If they both call for the same part numbers, you're golden. If not... I would check eBay for a really cheap (and in your case, perfectly adequate) option.

Yeah, I tried that, but the only thing Rockauto has listed is fill rebuild kits including the pressure plate and so on. makes sense, since it would be madness to replace the friction disk and not also replace the PP, but... there's no breakout on friction disk part numbers.

I'll keep digging.
