WILL NOT GO OVER 4000RPM ON STARTUP
Hi i,m driving a volvo s40 2001 1.8 gdi with 63k on the clock,
Every time i start the car it feelssluggish for the first cuople of minute with very little power and when i put my foot down it will not go over 4000rpm exactly, but when i go to 4000 once or twice and release my foot and rev the engine again the problem is gone and the car drives fine for whatevertime.
But the problem returns every time i start the car for those first few minute until i rev it up and down,
No service lights, i changed the spark plugs to see and that did not work,
Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong its driving me nuts
please help

Try letting your car idle for a few minutes. If your just driving soon as the car has been sitting for a while you need to let the car warm up before it can work it's best. I noticed the same problem before. I let the car warm up for about 5 minutes and then I drive. Works fine for me. Just start the car up and let it warm up for a few minutes it should be fine after that.
with the turbo, you need a good amount of time for the vacuum to intake air before the turbo starts to spool, it will seem sluggish until the turbo is where it needs to be, key rule, let your car warm up at least 2-3 minutes before take off...and of course let it cool down 30 seconds to a minute before shutdown.
