Default Fuel Filter

I want to change my fuel filter. Do I have to use a Volvo fuel filter? Or are there some generic brands that are good? I really don't want to wait for one to come in the mail.

Welcome to the forum Andrew.

You can use good aftermarket ones. Make sure it looks and measures the same at the connections.

I highly recommend you go to s40concepts.net, go to their "how-to" section and it gives you specific instructions on changing the filter...

Default all kinds of jacked up

I bought a new filter from Volvo. I put the car on a lift, and couldn't find the filter! We traced the fuel line all the way from the fuel tank to the engine and did not see it. I don't think it is inside the fuel tank either.
Also, the instructions at s40concepts.net talked about disconnecting the fuel pump fuse then starting the car until it dies to relive pressure. But, there is not a fuse for the fuel pump in the fuse box.

Most of the plastic under the you can see past with a little bending and getting up close. But on s40concepts.net they were saying you had to remove some plastic to get to it. Shouldn't you be able to spot the fuel filter without removing every bit of plastic on the underbody?
