Window Regulator / Motor

Window Regulator / Motor
Hey guys, I just came across this board today while lookingfor some help.[sm=shades.gif] I love these types of places, so hopefully someone can help me out. I didn't see anything under the S40 forum about this, but my driver's side window stopped working. I took it in and they said the regulator was stripped so that will have to be replaced, butthe part comes with a motor. Therefore, the whole part is $350 plus $150 for labor. I was going to look into seeing if I can do this myself and get the part for cheaper too. Has anyone done this before? If I remove the panel, is it as easy as unplugging a couple things for the regulator/motor, unscrewing the bolts, taking the old one out and putting the new one in (in reverse order)? Or is it more involved? Also, is it the same part that is on the S60, S80 and/or any of the C Series? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. [sm=helpout.gif]

RE: Window Regulator / Motor
It is pretty straight foward.
It is not the same regulator as the other cars.
What really happens is one of 2 things.
1.The cable guide breaks.
2.The inside if the motor strips out. It is plastic and designed to break it is hits something hard while the window goes up so the window doesn't shatter. Or someones arm gets broken.
