Default remove window motor regulator

My front drivers side window will not roll up
With manuals in hand I removed the door panel.

The motor regulator is screwed from the inside. it appears to be screwed on from the window side of the metal mounting plate. This is different than the diagram in the manual, which shows it screwed from the outside.

After looking at a parts catalogue it appears the motor regulator is factory assembled to the mounting plate, which means you have to buy the whole mechanism

I took the back of the motor off and tried to turn the armature by hand and nohing happened, it is bound up tight and want turn so this makes me think itis not the switch. I would think you should be able to turn the armature by hand, which turns the worm gear in the regulator. which in turn rotates the rack on the inside....but maybe I am wrong?

How do I get the motor regulator off. Do you have to pull the window out of the lifting levers?

1998 S70 (the plain jane model)

Thanks for any and all help.

Default RE: remove window motor regulator

You have to disconnect the glass first.
Then take the entire plate out.

Why not just try to add power to the motor itself first to roll the window up and see what happens.
