Is this normal when I haven't pressed the Winter Mode button?

I do believe so.When winter mode the car shifts into 3rd and watching for wheel spin.

 

Thanks for the reply. To clarify, thing is, I have not pressed Winter Mode button. In other words, in Drive the arrow is off.

I understand that in Wintermode, the tranny is in the 3rd when the car stands still to reduce initial wheel spin, and the arrow is on all the time.

Oh I see you actually said you haven"t .Yes when any other gear than D the arrow is on.Now if it would be blinking then you have a problem

 

The light comes on to let you know that you are not in drive. So you don't accidentally rive 100 miles or so in the wrong gear, I have done it.
