Default Flashing yellow arrow on 2000 S70

2000 Volvo S70 error code Po758?

Hey everyone I'm new here and have a couple of questions. Here go's-
I just bought a 2000 S70 Volvo 2.4 turbo a week ago and it ran out fine. But the compressor was out so I replaced it and while doing so disconnected the battery completely. Once it was back together it had a flashing yellow up light on the dash plus service light was on. I ran the codes and it came up PO758
and states it's a "Shift Solenoid B" electrical. Can anyone tell me where to find this mounted on the transmission?
and is this also the same thing as a PNP switch?

Sorry to say the solenoids in the transmission are inside the transmission under that black cover that is under where the battery is mounted. You can disconnect the front motor mount, remove the battery, remove the torsion front motor mount, disconnect the top torsion motor mount, and jack the transmission up to remove the cover on the transmission. You might have enough room to remove all the bolts on the cover without doing what I just said in the last sentance but it will be a bit tight. If you do jack up the transmission disconnect or move the wires to the O2 sensors since they are a bit tight and may damage the wiring (oops that will be $214). Under the cover you will see the valve body with three solenoids that can be easily changed (about $150). Now with that said it could be that the transmission is about to totally fail and changing the solenoids is just a bandaid. If the fluid is really dirty and the mileage is over 100k you might just be on borrowed time. Were you able to reset the CEL with the OBD-II scanner? If the light comes back on after just a few minutes then you will probably be looking at a rebuild on the transmission.

Hey good to know all of this, although you're probably not as sorry to say it as I am to hear it. I really do appreciate the information and you're right according to all the research that I've done thus far on the internet. I'm so convinced that this is the problem I went ahead and ordered the replacement part that should be here in a couple of days. I'm looking forward to tackling this opportunity to discover the inner workings of this Volvo.
Oh yea I was able to reset the code it came back on after driving for a bit, such is life right. thanks again for all the input.

Default Flashing Yellow UP light 2000 S70

Hey everyone just wanted to give ya an update. I changed out the PNP but nothing changed. Did I buy a bad switch from FCP? Or did I make a mistake while installing? although it seamed simple enough. Give me some ideas on how to follow up on this.

Thanks

Changing the PNP switch is probably not the problem. The problem is most likely internally in the transmission due to old fluid. Try changing the solenoids and see if that fixes it but understand you will probably need a new transmission to resolve this problem long term. After you reset the CEL did the car drive normally for a little bit? Mine has this same issue and it drives fine for about five minutes until the clutches slip going into third gear (engine revs but the car slows down). And then Boom! on goes the CEL and the "up arrow" starts flashing. I'm about to do a swap on the transmission with a salvage yard trani but this is on my XC70 with AWD.

Thanks for the input regarding this problem, from all that I've found so far on the internet changing the solenoids is the next step in the process so here goes nothing. I'll keep everyone posted on what the results are after changing the solenoids out.
