Default "Engine System Service Required"????????

Hello everyone,

I just recently got my spark plugs done this past Sat. @ 63194 miles. Today as I pulled up to work the "Engine System Service Required" message came up. I called the shop, they want to charge me $65 just to tell me what the codes are. I don't understand why it's saying that, I don't need a oil change & I just got the spark plugs done. What else could it be? Does anyone have a code reader in the Montgomery Co. or PG Co. area?

There could be 100 or more different reasons the light is on.

Try stopping by an Auto Zone and see if they will read the codes for you.

OK, I went to Auto Zone yesterday after work. They scanned the car and gave me a print out. It said "The PCM determined that the voltage signal from cruise control brake switch "A" is too high for the current engine operating conditions".

It also haves on their...
Definition: Cruise control brake switch circuit high
Explanation: ECM detected the cruise brake switch operation did not agree with the brake light switch operation.

Ok, I have no idea what any of that means. Can someone please help me out.

Yes that is the code for the brake pedal sensor mounted in the front of the brake booster.
They are common to go bad.

Hey tech, is it possible to get "engine system service required" and not have any codes?? I have that message and my obd2 reader reads 0 codes and green light is illuminated (which means car is ready to pass emission). Ever had problem like this?
