Default '02 S60 2.4t *SRS airbag message*

Hey again,
I've had my 2.4t for 6 months now, shortly after buying and getting it safetied the cabin fan was not working so I took the control out and triggered the SRS airbag message. Is there a way I can reset this without going to a shop?? I had it in for service and oil change and tranny fluid flush recently but they didn't reset that SRS message...
Any recommendations for OBD2 code readers, and would I be able to reset it with one?

I guess that you are saying that you removed the climate control module and turned the key on with it out? If so, yes, that will trigger a communications fault as all of those systems seem to rely upon each other to work.

Any competent shop can clear the code. See if your local dealer will do it as a courtesy or nominal fee. You can unhook the battery for 1,000 years, reconnect, and the code will still be there until cleared.

The exact event that triggered it I'm not sure. It might have been when the battery completely died on me and I boosted it; I'm thinking either that or when I took out the climate control. This morning I read similar posts and checked Amazon for a code reader. Found This, seems like it would be good...

I agree about the competent shop... I thought someone would have cleared it by now I've had it in a couple different places.. one thing I'm having a hard time with is finding a competent shop....
YouTube is an amazing thing. Learning all about my Volvo.

A basic OBD II scanner won't work. You have to be able to access the SRS module which takes different software.

This IS a problem .. This code reader , is it universal or Volvo proprietary ? A very similar event took place within the confines of our Honda Accord.. I have driven for years with the SRS lite on in the old Saab .. and survived .. Hondas can also be frightening expensive to "repair" - at the dealer -. AVOID AT ALL COSTS -
U Tube .. use with grains of salt ... NO ONE knows everything !
