i have 1992 volvo turbo also have a 2002 s60 2.4t the 92 have 290k miles s60 have 78k, the 92 drive and handle better the s60 be all over the road could it be the tires or a front end problem I also drove 01 s40 while the s60 were being service the s40 handled great i think there something with my s60. anybody else have this problem thier 02 s60 2.4t

Mines an 02 NA. I've taken interstate on ramps at 70 mph, stuck the inside tires on the white line and never even heard a squeak from the tires. Drive the little country roads and lets say slightly more than the legal speed limit, and it takes any and all curves like a dream. My guess is either your tires or a part of the suspension is worn out. Seeing as you only have 78K I would guess tires.

 

The tires have good thread I bought the car used with 76K on it the tires look like a different brand on front could this make it handle rought. By using diff. tires on back.

Two different tires shouldn't make that much of a difference, as long as they aren't different sizes or you had one of each on the front. If it is a fairly hard rubber compound that could be part of the equation. Harder rubber will last longer but handling wont be as good. Check the alignment to see if that is the problem. Also check tires for uneven wear, cupping, etc. If all that checks out then you will have to start looking at suspension components.

 

Cars that corner real well tend to be all over the road driving straight, if this is your problem take it to someone who knows the science of alignment and tell them what you are experiencing and they can fix it.
