04 S60 - Headlight Bulb recommendations?
Looking for a stronger than stock bulb, with good life to them. The Philips WhiteVision I've been using were nice but the life is garbage (they blow after a few months). Open to any recommendation.
Looking at these now as they have a 450hour life listed, but again, open to recommendations (including LED retrofits): https://www.amazon.com/Philips-X-tre...-3&keywords=h7
*note: This is for low beam, incase anyone had that question.

Geez, how bright do your lights need to be driving on Elwood Road :-)
There are three schools of thought for improving your lighting:
1) Go to a bigger wattage bulb. This will truly add lumens but you risk burning up wires and sockets due to the extra heat and current draw.
2) Go to a different color bulb. PIAAs are a popular choice here but you with the same wattage (55) as stock. Idea is white changes reflectivity and makes it easier to see things at night.
3) Go to a different bulb technology. True HIDs are available in aftermarket kits but require ballasts to drive the bulbs. LEDs are on the market but some compaints about longevity and coverage. New cars are coming with LEDs with the buckets engineered for the LEDs (ie using many small LEDs to create a bigger lamp).
I personally use high quality 9006s or H7s in my cars vs Walmart brands. I know Tire Rack sells PIAAs and Hellas in the 9006 size if you want to try their 55/60W products. Also, wear gloves and avoid touching the bulb glass when installing. Finger grease will add to the heat and shorten the bulb life.
