Default '05 S60R - Cooling Fan & Turbo Issues

Thanks in advance for those who help me out!

Purchased a mint S60R with 46K miles on it not too long ago. Just last week the cooling fan seemed obnoxiously loud, something I hadn't noticed before. I can hear it in the passenger cabin when the car is idling, even above the engine sound. I can hear it in my house when the car is running in the garage - etc... Took it into the Volvo dealership explained the issue and they replaced the cooling fan. The tech said that it was a little louder than normal but nothing ot worry about. At any rate, i received the car back with the new fan and it seems even louder than before.

Anyone else have issues with their cooling fan?
Is it supposed to be super loud, far louder than the normal engine noise?
Should the fan run at all times when the engine is on?

Also, since returning from the dealership my turbo seems extremely loud now as well. I could always hear it spooling before but i was fairly muted and i rarely did i hear the blow off valve. Now, especially when under power, the turbo spooling is LOUD and the blow off valve is even louder.

Any insight or advice?

Thanks,
-Brett

The cooling fan is pretty loud on mine also, I assume it has to do with it being so high speed. It shouldn't always be on though.

As far as th e turbo is the car running any different otherwise? You could just be worrying about these sounds and have become extra sensitive to it.

Have you changed your intake system at all? Conical filter, opened air box, ex?

check your brake and clutch pedal (if you have a clutch) where they enter the firewall there is a rubber gasket - if that is loose or not installed correctly you get a LOT of noise from both the fan and the turbo.

Also check to see if the weather stripping at the rear of the engine compartment is in place.

I'll check the gaskets on the pedals and engine compartment - good thought. Also, I did put in a K&N filter but no other mods.
