Default '06 S60 "Engine System Service Required" won't go away and Cruise not engaging

Hey guys. I'm a newbie.I have an '06 S60 in mint condition with almost 38k miles. Recently, the "Engine System Service Required" message came on and since I was planning a short trip anyway and it was time for it, I took it in for an oil change and fluid check. They were able to clear the message and the cruise control worked as well. However, just as I was pulling onto the interstate, the "Engine System Service Required" message popped back up and the Cruise Control would no longer engage (it was engaging on the highway before the message popped up). When I press the Cruise button it does indicate that Cruise is ready to be activated, but when I press the + button to engage it, nothing happens. Anyone else ever have this problem? Any ideas whats going on? I plan on taking it back to the shop this week when I get back home....but it's driving me crazy trying to figure out the issue now. Thanks!!

There is codes stored in the engine control module. That will stop the cruise from working as well You need to have the codes pulled.
