Default 08 S60 Brake lights won't go on

2008 Volvo s60 2.5T 152,000mi

Hello, I am having an issue with my S60. The rear brake lights won't turn on and the third brake light is always on, but all other lights work fine.

Things I've checked:
Bulbs are good.
I put a new brake switch on.
Rear brake fuse in the trunk.
Turn signal switch.

I have no idea what else it could be. I can't find a location in the Internet for the relay though. Any help would be much appreciated!

volvowiringdiagrams.com is a good resource for finding relays/wire colors...

Sounds like you have a short probably in one of the sockets or connectors into the tail lights that's grounding out completing the circuit for the third light.

I guess I have to ask, What's a brake switch. Relay? Where is the switch? And why did you replace it?

Not to challenge, but check the NEW brake switch for ground.
High percent of self inflicted change when replacing stuff.
