Post 105K and now jerky and shaky... Transmission?

Ok I got my S60 2.5T 2004 Volvo with 75k on it. It has ran very very well and I have maintained it with regular oil changes and just replaced the brake Pads about two months ago. It has been about 6k miles since my last oil change (winter and $ issues). I just started noticing that when driving through town at slower speeds and frequent stops it jerks real hard. This also occurs when the car has been running for a long time on idle or slow speeds. I have also noticed that it jerks a little and is a little shaky in general.

I would never be able to afford a new tranny. What do you all think? Do I need to go and change the oil ASAP? When I checked my tranny fluid about 2 months back it was fine. Should I flush the transmission? Is transmission fluid and oil the same thing? What are solenoids? I see other posts about this.

Basically any informed info/comments would be appreciated.

And yes in case your wondering who this genius is... I'm girl. I should also mention it was not my idea to by this car but my ex-husbands, I knew the upkeep would be expensive although I love he seat Warmers.

Thanks everyone!

Is the jerkying and shaking at idle or while your traving down the road?

It only jerks when on idle so when I'm stopped at a stop sign and then hit the gas- it jerks. It shakes a little as I'm driving. Ist just a little. I have noticed some jerking when I'm driving. It's a 2004 and the only messages I have are for regular maintainance. I am going to take it in for an oil change this weekend or do it myself.

Have you replaced the fuel filter yet? The owners manual says to do so at 105,000 miles.

Here are my 2 cents. The good news is that from your description of the problem I don't think it is transmission related. I would think of either fuel related (possibly bad fuel filter, clogged injector or a vacuum leak somewhere) or ignition related (either bad coil or old spark plugs). It would help if you had an error code but the reason you don't have an error code yet is possibly because the problem does not stay long enough to be recognized by the car computer. Have you noticed the engine light blinking for a very short time when that problem happens? I would rule out a vacuum leak as it should trigger an error code since a vacuum leak is a normally a constant problem once it occurs. I would start by getting the fuel filter cleaned or replaced it and the clean the fuel line. If that does not help then I would look at the ignition line. How old are your spark plugs?
I had a problem on my 2004 2.5T last year due to a bad coil. Every so often the car would hesitate when accelerating, the engine light would blink for a fraction of a second but it took driving the car more than 800 miles before an error code appeared and made the cause of the problem more obvious.
