2001 S60 2.4 140K Blk/Tan - Preemptive Strike
Hi Everyone!
I wonder if some of you experts here could point me in the right direction?
My mother, who is elderly, will receive the above on Friday, a gift from a very close friend. As it is likely the last car she will ever own, can you guys suggest some "must read" threads other than the stickies?
I know (in theory) that it was well taken care of, but if there are any preemptive strikes we should take, that would be really helpful. My brother and I are flying to her on Friday, and he will take care of whatever he can himself this weekend. I'm going to spend this week wading through these threads to see what I can see, but I figured you guys would have some choice tips.
The only things Mom said are wrong:
Driver's side door panel around the inside latch is scratched up, and the speaker cover is cracked.
Front cup holder in the center console: cracked lid, scratched paint, cracked holders themselves.
Radio power button and one other is scratched. Can these all be easily replaced?
The present owner said that the airco/heat panel is broken, but that it could be easily replaced by a much newer/upgraded unit, plug and play?
And finally, anyone recommend a shop in the DC area that is trustworthy for an elderly woman with few resources should anything go wrong?
I am sure I will come across a lot of these things as I read through this board, but since time is a bit pressing for this weekend, I thought I would ask to help focus my notes.
Thank you very much!!
