2001 S60 140k $7k
I'm looking to but a 2001 S60 Turbo with 140,000 miles for about $7,000. I've read some things about the transmission shifting into neutral when stopped. I didn't notice it when I drove. That kind of turn me off but it's a turbo and man it is fun to drive. I'll have a mechanic check it out, I know it need an alignment. I've never owned a Volvo so I'm not sure what to expect as far cost of repairs compared to say a Camry. What kind of maintenance should be done at 150,000-160,000 miles and how much should I ear-mark for that.
Where are you located? I am in NJ and currently looking for Volvo myself. For $7000 you should be able to get one with mileage below 100K.
I am looking at ont of the Volvo's at one of the "sort of local" dealers. They currently have 2001 S80 T6 with 80K for $7500.

Transmission; According to my Volvo mechanic they did that to save fuel when stopped. Mine has had a software update to eliminate this because they sometimes bang a bit when you start going again.
Price; I paid $9600/91k mi., all 90k service was performed( brakes, coils, plugs, cab filter, oil, antifreeze, tranny flush, etc.). Mine is in excellent condition with every option, newer tires, & so on. Maybe I paid too much according to some, but its been awesome so far. Good fuel mileage too. Good luck!
