Default 2001 S60 Coolant Source to combustion chambers?

Hello All,

All of the cylinders are all producing 150 psi of compression. So, is there a way for coolant to reach the cylinders from the intake manifold? How can I determine the source of the coolant?

Thank You,

David E.

No, if you have coolant in the cylinders it is coming from a damaged head gasket. I have not seen a cracked head with this engine series. The pressure of combustion is so much higher than the pressure in the cooling system so if it is a tiny leak it can be hard to "push" coolant into the cylinders with a cooling system pressure tester -

One other possibility is a cracked cylinder liner - but that generally only happens on the R engines. I did however see a cracked cylinder once on the 4cyl s40. (same basic block just w/4 cylinders)
