Default 2001 S60 funky electronics?

Hi -

I have a 2001 S60 with about 120k miles on it. I've only been the owner for a couple years, and don't know much about cars. For the past few months, the Check Engine light has been coming on, and the dealer has been checking it and saying it's giving out no fault codes. They turn it off, a few days later it comes back on again. Then, the Check Transmission light started doing the same thing. It comes on and goes of seemingly as it pleases. Beyond that even, a couple times I got a message saying Bulb Failure, Position Light, but I checked my position light and it was fine. That warning, too, goes off on its own eventually, and I've only seen that one a couple times.

To make things even weirder, now the driver's door seems to be losing power occasionally. After the car sits for a period of time such as during the night, when I get up in the morning and unlock the car with the clicker, the driver's door doesn't unlock, I need to do it manually. Then I hear a bunch of clicking noises coming from that door as the lights under the window and mirror control buttons try to come on. Likewise, none of those buttons (locks, windows, mirrors) work while the lights are flickering. The problem goes away after a minute or so of running the car. This only seems to happen after a full day without driving, and overnight.

I have no idea what to do. I don't know much about cars, don't have a lot of money, and the dealer hasn't been much help. They just check the fault codes, and if nothing comes up, they just turn them off and send me on my way. (I haven't come to them about the door issue yet, just the sporadic warning lights.) They're telling me now that the Engine/Transmission lights are throwing a fault code saying my speed sensor needs to be replaced, but I'm skeptical about that being the problem, and I'm sure that doesn't have anything to do with my driver's side door issues.

Any thoughts?

Nope, have never seen anything come up for ABS. The exact messages I see...

- Check Engine light is pretty much always on, except for the times I've taken it to the dealer, and they've reset it, which gave me a few days before it came back again. I see it go off every once in a while, but it always comes back on.

- Transmission Service Required light is not usually on when I start the car for the first time each day, but comes on maybe 10 miles into my drive, and then doesn't go off again until the car has sat for a long period of time, such as overnight.

- Bulb Failure Position Light has come on twice, for about 2 days each, and has gone off each time.

Sounds like the network communication is messing up somewhere and not leaving a trace. Sad to say but you might have to wait for it ot get worse to find it.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think there's anything to the fact that the dealer told me it's now been giving a fault code saying to replace the speed sensor? How about the issue with the power going to my left door?

The speed sensor could be possible. But that was why I asked about the ABS. If the ABS module was bad it will throw the speed sensor code and could also be affecting the door as well.

I have seen network problems cause many weird things.
