2001 S60 tranny troubles
Hello all, I need your assistance.
I own a 2001 S60 T5. We bought the car with 60K miles and the car was a "certified" volvo pre-owned vehicle - (big deal?)
The car now has 105K miles, with mostly in city driving by my wife and the car now needs a replacement transmission after a diagnostic by our local volvo dealer. The car is no longer under warranty.
$4,300.00 for the tranny w/ warranty and from what I understand these transmissions are sold as completed assemblies by volvo with parts not readily available.
Should I buy the new tranny and drive the car for another 10 years or do I trust someone to rebuild it and take my chances?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks'

agreed on the "whats wrong" part...
that said VERY VERY few shops will attempt to rebuild an AW-55 and most that have tried have NOT been successful. General consensus is that the new tranny is the way to go. That said, they are a bit high on the price in my opinion.
