Default 2001 S60 Water pump removal

Hi all,
My son and I are trying to replace the timing belt on his 2001 S60 T5, which I believe is the 2.3L engine. Right now, we have everything off except for the water pump and cannot get that bugger off. Just a bit of the seal cracked on the bottom, but it still won't budge. What are we missing? Any thoughts?

There is a bit of a plug or something between two bolts. The new pump has a thru hole that is smaller than the bolt holes leading us to believe maybe there's a guide pin? I took a pic and circled what I believe is the "offending" item. How do I get this off?

Once the bolts are removed, you should be able to pry it off. It might just be hanging up on the dowels.
