2001 Volvo S60 gas odor/leak, & access to fuel line
The issue we are having at present started as a strong gas odor on the outside of the car, particularly on the passenger (right) side.
We took it to a mechanic who is not really familiar with Volvos but he was able to determine that there is a leak in the fuel line. Through his checks, he noticed that the leakage appears to be coming from the fuel line that runs above (or on top of) the fuel tank. He was not sure how to access that area without having to pull apart the exhaust system and drop the fuel tank.
We are going to take the 2001 Volvo S60 T5 to another mechanic who is supposed to know about these cars, but I wonder if you can provide information about how to access the fuel line in this area for inspection and repair.
Thank you for any guidance you can provide!

IIRC, from reading the recall thread, you access the fuel pump and system by removing the back set.
HOWEVER, you wont have to do this beacuse you are covered under the warranty. At first it was only certain states but they have expanded it to cover more cars and if you push it with Volvo they will cover you.
Find the recall thread on this site.
