I have a 2001 Volvo S60. I just got back from a 700 mile trip last night. My car ran fine the whole way home we stopped a few time turned it off and it started right up normally no issues. This morning I went out to start it and it's idling really hard and the service engine regent light is on. I put it in drive and it won't go over 5mph and it won't go above 2000 rpm no matter how hard I push on the gas. I checked the air filter and it's clean. What could the problem be? Help!!

 

if you can some how get a scan tool hooked up to it to get the trouble codes from the car - this would be my first step. This would give people more to work with also.

 

You might having some problems with throttle body or ETM. Try checking for codes with a scanner.

 

My etm just died on my 2001 S60 and it is costing me $1000, trying to decide to fix it or trade for a pre owned 2013 s60

 

You can pull it out and get it fixed at Xymodex for half the price and life time warranty

 

I've tried several shops no one will touch it. At least Volvo is giving me a rebate of 30% on the part, just can't take another hit like this 6k in 5 yrs.
