2002 S60 electrical ghosts
A few months ago, I reported that my car was doing strange things. The trunk was unlocking by itself. The gas gauge stopped working. The rear doors stopped unlocking with the central locking. This all started around the time that the fuel pump was replaced.
I never got around to having my mechanic look at it. One thing or another kept getting in the way. Well, this week I had to get my annual state inspection done. Turns out that in addition to the named problems, I didn't have brake lights or reversing light either. The mechanic chased the problem from the fuse block back to the batter and discovered that there was a wire that wasn't properly connected to the battery. That never occurred to me. The car started fine, the lights and radio work.
I'm wondering if they disconnected the battery when the fuel pump was replaced and caused the problem. Even if that is the case, I doubt that he would admit it.
