2002 S60 voltage help!
Well I've got the EL SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED, and a non-running s60. It died, coasted into a parking lot, towed it home. I replaced the battery after the battery didnt test well (original). The car cranked over, started, no error message.
Drove the car a few miles, error came back.
After doing some reading it looks to be the voltage regulator and/or alternator. When shopping for an alternator it says "Regulator type: IR (Internal)"
So does that mean I don't know need to replace both parts because its built into the new alternator? Or is that an advertisement error? Are they two totally seperate parts, or is the regulator inside the alternator?
I just need some clarification on these 2 parts, if they are definitely seperate or not, and if I should replace them both or not?
Thanks!!!

check all links inside. I am not expert but if it was me I would take alternator out and try to change voltage regulator.
