2004 Brake Light Relay Trunk Module Problem AGAIN!!!
My brake lights stopped working AGAIN.
I know where the problem is, but I don't know how to fix it.
It's the board connection between the brake light relay RM15 and its connection
on the relay board on on the left side of the trunk behind the interior panel.
It's a bad connection. I've tried swapping relays, spraying non-lube contact cleaner on both parts, and finally wedging somthig between it and its adjacent relay ( and that worked perfectly for a couple of weeks) but now that no longer works.
My question is: How does Volvo service this fault? Do i need to replace that whole board? Is there a procedure for improving the contact between relay and connector, or is there a way to replace that connector or rewire it so that the relay uses another slot now vacant?

OK, I get that but SHORT OF PUTTING 600.OO INTO FIXING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON A TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR CAR, I was thinking about this:
What would happen if i tinned the spade terminals with solder, making them slightly thicker, and a tighter fit in the connector?
It just seems stupid to have to replace a 400.00 part to resolve a poor contact with a single spade terminal socket on this piece of Bosch junk.
P.S: Apparently, a junkyard part wont work here because you need some sort of code that comes only with a NEW part, and then to have the stealership program it in, so you must buy new, and probably pay a punitive tax to the stealership for not buying the part from them, and not letting them install it at 125 bucks an hour.

Love the "stealership" reference. I have this same exact problem with my 2004 S60 that I just got. What a pain in the butt!! Absolutely agree that it is a lot of money to have to get this from the dealer. Especially when the car is barely worth that much. This seems to be kind of a common problem I've learned from researching it. Hope it worked out for you.
