2004 S60 Air Box (?)
Looking at the air box on on my S60 2.5T (just brought it home yesterday, bought it used...60K miles), I noticed the middle tab of the air box has two plastic "nubs" that will not allow the "male" end of the tab to slide thru completely....thus, I dont think there is a complete seal around the filter....actually, you can see a little bit of the air filter when the box is shut with all clamps closed down. Is this normal?? Should I cut the two tabs off the air box so the tabs on the top of the box can slide thru completely??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So this is "normal"?? Why does it come that way from the factory..any reason at all? I will take a small file and cut the two nubs out of the center slot on the bottom part of the air box today. It just baffles me why a car of ths quality would have such a "oops" on something as important as the air box.
Thankyou for your help, its much appreciated.

If you were to remove the entire air box and put it together it would go pretty easy. They install it out of the car. So they have never had to change one thats why they made it like that for so long. It also moves alot when you try to install the lid due to the rubber mounts holding the air box to the car. I usually stick a prybar behind the air box to hold it still while installing the lid.
Understood. I still dont see how it would go together very easy with those two plastic nubs blocking the slot? Actually I dont see how the top box's tab would slide through at alll with those two nubs blocking the way...well, they're gonna get file and I'm sure it'll work way better then.
i had the EXACT problem when i got mine, i bought a reverse vice which pushing things apart rather than hold together, so i put the vice in the airbox and expanded it till the plastic held, now i have a perfect seal and didnt have to cut or file anything.
