Default 2004 S60 AWD T5 starts fine (beautifully, really!) but then...

So the car starts fine, drives fine on both the highway and side roads.

What doesn't work:
  • Dashboard instruments
  • Power windows and locks
  • Interior lights
  • Steering wheel controls (stereo volume, cruise control, etc)
  • Rear defroster

What does work:
  • The exterior lights (hazards, turn signals, headlights)
  • Power steering
  • Radio
  • AC adapters
  • Heat/AC
  • Front defroster
  • Brakes

I'm not sure if the seat adjustment controls work, I think they do because my boyfriend drove the car last before I did this morning and I can't reach the pedals when the car is adjusted to his preferences.

There was sort of an on-and-off clicking noise coming from somewhere near the driver's side door throughout my 20 minute drive to work this morning.

When I got to work and turned the car off, the heat/AC panel lights stayed lit as did the driver floorboard light. A few moments later the heat started blowing - it stopped after a few minutes. The panel lights and floorboard lights went out shortly thereafter.

When I locked the driver's door manually with my key, none of the other doors locked, and the hazards and headlights started flashing. They stopped when I unlocked the door.

What the hell is going on here??? Someone please help...

*ETA: We just had the computer and battery replaced in February*

I'm guessing you might have CEM issues

Yesterday when I got home I pulled fuse 32 - it was intact - replaced it anyways and then everything was fine again.

We were all good until I was driving home about 45 min ago when the ABS light came on and the dash suddenly shut off. Windows, steering control etc all working fine, just the dash this time.

Pulled fuse 32 again, stuck it back in and we're all lit up again. That same clicking noise happens whenever I pull the fuse and re insert it, also happens intermittently when the dash is down.

I know 32 is the CEM fuse, but why does pulling it make the damn thing work again??
