The shop has the engine of my car out, and the new engine is going to go in. How long does this take to install? it's a 2.4 non-turbo

 

Depends a lot on who is doing it and how familiar they are with Volvo and the job. It pays about 12 hours.

12 hours of labor is what the shop should charge. The tech gets paid 12 hours labor then. Unless its some indy that doesn't pay flat rate.

 

I put a used low km engine in my 2004, they put new belts in it and all the other components that needed changing. Wound up costing me over $4000 dollars cdn, part of me still thinks I should have scrapped it. My last engine and this one uses a lot of oil, doesn't make sense are these 2.4's crap it sure seems like it.
