2004 S60 lights question....
This may be a really stupid question, but I can't find the answer in the manual, and I thought I'd ask here before I ask the dealership.
When I start my S60 (the the headlight switch turned to the "o" position), all the lights come on.....headlights, parking lights and tailights and dash lights. I thought the "o" position was lights off, or daytime running lights only, not all lights. Is something wrong with my S60? When the switch is turned to the middle position, the headlights do shut off, but all the other lights remain on, true parking light style, when the switch is moved to the top position (headlights on), there is no change in light function from the "o" position to full function position, the healights are just as bright (arent daytime running lights suppose to be a lower power beam?). Am I missing something here??
Thanks in advance.
Dustin

I don't know when this started, but (at least with the S60) all the lights are supposed to come on in the DRL/ headlight off poistion. I know, contradictory, isnt it? But a dealer can deactivate this so that only the DRLs will come on without all the parking/tail lights coming on in the off position.
Unless the car has HID, the low beam is the DRL. I read somewhere a few years ago that regular DRLs did less to prevent accidents then originally thought, so maybe the reasoning is headlights work better?

Sooooo, you're saying my car is totally normal??? Yes, I do think that it is contradictory, whats the point in having a light switch with three different positions when all that is needed is two because two of the three settings does the exact same thing????? Verrrry curious indeed!

I am in the process of "discussing" with the dealer that the "0" position does not keep the DRLs off like the manual says and that they should correct the issue free of charge under warranty.
