I inherited my dads 2004 volvo s 60 r after he passed away this may due to cancer and covid. My mom tried to sell it and I fought to kept it in the family because me and dad had memories in this car. But unfortunately, a 17 yr old girl ran a stop sign and side swiped the front left side of my car. Now the break lights don't work

on left side and neither does the head light on left side. I bought new bulbs and still didn't work. I switched the light bulb panel in back and it works so that's not the issue. I think the hit unplugged a wire. Where would I look to find the correct wire ? There are so many. Also I changed all fuses and switched relays. It has to be a wire issue. Here's a picture of the damage.

 

Typically if someone runs a stop sign and hits your car - they will be at fault and THEIR INSURANCE will pay to fix your car. Is that not the case? Sorry for your loss both personally and with your car. .

The R cars have HID headlamps - so a little more complicated than a standard headlamp system. If you have a left headlamp assembly installed in the car and can't get it to work I'll be glad to send you wiring diagrams and offer suggestions as to what might be the cause. For instance I have seen several times that error codes stored in the CEM prevent individual lights from working possibly after bulbs or wires short wires out. The solution is to read the codes in the CEM and erase them.

Otherwise let the body shop and insurance company handle everything.

 

All the shops around us can't touch the car until end of January. I work for post office so my wife can't use my work car cause I'm delivering mail in it. And we already been pulled over once for the lights out but cop let us off because he is same cop that ran the wreck. We had to take the cash out option because we have to find a car asap to haul kids to school without threat of being pulled over. But im keeping car and going to fix it cause it was dads but was just going to fix the lights for now so it's street legal. I'd love to get the wiring diagram from you and see if something is just unplugged or cut from wreck. Ty.
