I saw the "Bulb failure position light" message on my 07' S60.
The two rear parking lights (R5W) on the passenger/right side won't come on.
I bought new R5W bulbs and those didn't work. I swapped the left socket (holding the brake, parking lights, and fog light) with the right, and the working left socket also didn't work on the right side. The suspected defective right socket worked just fine on the left side. Brake lights work fine on both sides swapped. So, it didn't seem that the socket was defective.
I checked the fuse (#2). That fuse was fine.
This 07' model has the kind of REM that does not have shunts plugged into it from the outside.
I also noticed that the yellow remote button on the fob won't turn on the two rear right parking lights (R5W), the front right side orange side light, and the right side head light.
Any suggestions on where else to look?

I was told that the computer sensed that the left and right light bulbs were different (which they were), and cut the voltage to the lights. It seems that the computer interpreted a difference in electrical resistance as some kind of hardware failure.
They told me they reset the computer, and changed both left and right bulbs to the same kind.
They didn't charge me anything for the work other than the cost of a pair of light bulbs. I think they were pretty honest.
