2005 S 60 R
Hello all, I am new to this forum and think its great....
I recently purchased a S60R and love it, problem is,I cant find too many performance upgrades for it and am looking for new tires. The car is quick as is, but more is better, right?
First thing I am looking to do is replace the tires, not the rims, but a softer compound tire would be a nice. I have had plenty of low profilerim/combo's before and never had them ride so rough, and catch every rut in the road. Some of the rut catching might be the AWD????? Any suggestions? The tires are the stock 18" bridgestone potenza S-03. I have been on tire rack checking out all different kinds of tires but would like to hear from first hand accounts for what actual S 60 R owners are running.
Performance... Do the cold air intakes make a difference or just add more noise from the engine bay? Programmers,I have come across a few that are costly, anyone using one that is worth the $$$? Exhaust, did it make a difference? Lastly, ECU display monitor, is there a company out there that makes a small LCD display that gives engine vitals much like the ones for diesel trucks?

Have you even looked? I'm being serious.
1. Look at these two threads.
https://volvoforums.com/m_38606/tm.htm
https://volvoforums.com/m_65537/tm.htm
2. What is your budget?
3. What is your Hp goal?
4. IPD USA, EuroSportTuning and Viva Performance these are three companies you want to look into for mods.
Yes Volvo's are exspensive to mod and you can't do anything about it, unless you can fab your own turboback system or have a local muffler shop fab you one up.
A. The CAI's don't make too big of a difference. Just nice under the hood apperance and you get a sound. I suggest using a performance panel filter.
B. There are many people with the expensive programmers and are very pleased. They are worth it.
C. You will see the most increased with a upgraded downpipe. The catback will will give you gains but not as much as the downpipe but if you do exhaust mods do both to gain all potential power.
D. I know of no one for Volvo that makes an LCD display for programming. Unless you get into stand alone tuning where you use a laptop.
Most popular mods are...
- Intake
- Downpipe
- Catback
- ECU upgrade

Yeah, no offense, but there is good info if you read thru back posts.
Stock tires are not great. I went with PZero Nero and would get them again for a year round tire, it's high perf all season though. But that helped alot with the tracking issue with the Rossos. Has nothing to do with the AWD.
Right now there is no good actual CAI kit for an R. But the stock airbox is restrictive on the R, so I did this,

I have to disagree with S70driver on C. A downpipe will give around 10 -15 hp alone. Figure another 5-10 with an exhaust. An ECU upgrade can give between 30-40 hp, depending on the tune stage.
I've delt with these two and would continue to,

And a couple more to look at,
