2005 S60R Power Steering Leak. O-rings? Need sanity check.
Was hoping to get a sanity check- my 2005 S60R w/ 120k miles started leaking PS fluid- and quickly. No small leak before as far as I can tell. My wife borrowed my car for a few days and like usual something went wrong. (I literally have 3 Volvos out of commission in my back yard....she has disabled 3 cars in three weeks....amazing....but I still love her!)
Said it was hard to steer. She drove it home. Reservoir was empty. Filled it up...didn't make it from the driveway to the shop around the house without emptying the whole thing again. Trying to figure out exactly where the leak is, and it seems to be on the rack where these two hard lines enter. Seems to be the bottom one. It's pretty cramped in there and I hard to see, so I guess what I would like to know is (1) is this common, (2) is the problem more likely a different scenario that I missed, and (3) any trick to replacing those? It looks like I *might* be able to get in there without lowering the sub frame...but it would be tight. Just getting a wrench on that Torx looks like a pain. Hopefully a simple O ring is all I need.
Ugh.
Car picture just for fun, cause I do love this car.
