2005 volvo s60r Start prevented message
Hello everyone I am new to the community, I recently purchased a 05 s60 R and i came across the infamous start prevented message. It all started when I left the car parked with - battery terminal disconnected for about a week, when I wanted to start the car I got the message on the dashboard.
Alarm was activated but I did the lock door twice and unlock to reset immobilizer but still got the error. Any ideas what it could be?
Ps. I only had 1 key (valet Key) but it was loose and previous owner put electric tape all over so it would hold, any ways I put a rivet in between the small Hole and Key holder so it wouldnt ook that ugly and hold better, idk if that has anything to do with the signal from the antenna. Any suggestiones would be appreciated. Thx

Yes I left car disconnected for about a week i put the rivet in the pre drilled Hole that comes with the key (the transponder was not damaged physically) and the next day i went to go start the car but got the start denied. Do you think the CEM was damaged or do I just need a new Key programed?

Do you think the CEM was damaged or is it replacing just the key?

If your only key is now damaged, I trust you are aware of the steps needed to purchase and program a new key. Is there a Volvo dealership near you? The car will have to be towed there, a key (valet or switchblade) ordered from your VIN to match the cut, and then using VIDA a software download is performed to tell the car to accept the signal from the new key. There is no reason to think your CEM is damaged.
Any other possibilities for service like that in Mexico other than the dealer? A Volvo specialist that has a VIDA subscription could do it also - but not sure if Volvo allows that in Mexico.
