2006 Turbo Problem or is it?
Hi, I'm a newbie poster. My girlfriend has a 2006 S60 that was making a sound in the mornings when leaving the house. THe sound would go away after driving about 10 minutes. It sounded like something keeping the cooing fan (or other fan) from spinning freely.. (Twig stuck or something like that) It only makes the sound when in gear and driving. The local volvo expert diagnosed it as a turbo problem. HIs claim is that the oil line to the turbo was clogged and it caused the turbo to make this noise until it/the car warmed up. So he rebuilt the turbo for $700, cleaned out the line and sent her on her way... We've had the car 4 days and the noise is back. His claim now is that perhaps the Oil breather (under the intake manifold) is so clogged that it's putting dirt into the system and re-created the problem. This would be another $500 to remove the intake manifold and clean the breather.... While I know diagnosing over the internet is difficult Any thoughts would be appreciated!! The sound does appear to come from the front right of the engine compartment.
