I was wonderin if anyone had any tips on how to install an aftermarket radio. Harnesses needed, special tools, pictures of projects, anything to help would be great. Thanks all! :-)

 

Welcome to VF. I installed an aftermarket stereo in my S60 and it was very easy. You will need a harness and an adaptor. You can get both on ebay, just search for S60 stereo connectors.

I installed the stereo. Sorry, forgot about the pictures... I have take the stereo out again to hook up the gps so i'll take pics then...

It looks like I loss my center channel speaker though, no more sound from there :-(

Does anyone have an idea of which wires in the audio harness are for the steering wheel controls? I see that there are several wires in one of the harnesses that I have no clue what they are for... I'll get pics up soon

 

Congrats on the install. Yeah, you do loose the center channel. There are only a couple car stereos that have an output for the center channel. Most DVD units only have the preamp out for it.

As for the steering wheel controls, they make a CAN interface box that you need to wire them in with. I don't know how well it works because I did not use it but if you do a search, you should be able to find some info on them. I also believe that you can buy them on ebay.
