Hi guys, new to the forum. I have an 06 X country, 2010 V50, 2001 V70 and just bought my son a 2002 S60 last night. Have owned dozens of volvos all the way back to the 122 era. So this car I just picked up from the original owner. It clunks going over pot holes etc. I thought for sure it was a motor mount. I just checked them all with a breaker bar, only movement its the top one, its bad but still not bad enough to account for this type of clunk. Car has new struts and everything in the front end I can check shows little wear. I may not be in the right part of this forum, so please redirect me if need be. Thanks, John in NH

 

Welcome to VF. I would think that the clunking is because of worn out end links. I had the same issue on a couple of my cars.

 

I pulled the sway bar links and one was bad. New ones were easy to replace. Thanks!
